shift cable omc

i think it that year is 1985 but i am not sure engine was omc v6 3.8 but i change it...now i use chrysler v8 318.
and... can you tell me please what is different betwen that two models:confused:

1979-1982 were hydromechanical shift - hydromechanical cable is part number 0981394 CABLE ASSY
1982-1985 were mechanical shift - mechanical shift cable is 0982563 CABLE ASSY.

If your lower unit has a rectangular anode above the prop (behind the 6 idle relief holes), it is the later mechanical shift
no anode there = earlier hydromechanical
