The engine was seized with rust in the cylinders due to neglect. Appears about 400 hrs on electronic counter. I did an economy overhaul (considering Volvo part prices). Got one new cylinder tube/piston/rings etc. Other cylinders looked good enough for a re-hone and new rings. Now the engine runs fine, but consumes a quart of oil in 20 mins idling. No visible leaks, some exhaust smoke but looks about normal (have no direct diesel experience). No great plume of blue smoke, no oil slick on exhaust water puddle. Boat's on the hard so can not 'load' engine. Is this 'normal' while rings bed down or do I start again/abandon? Chris
