Honda bf2 splutters at full throttle.

I don't know what happened to the title of my original post but I thought I'd try again.....sorry........not easy bein me ya know!!!

I have a small Honda BF2 which is a few years old but is essentially brand new and has hardly been used. Last week I was using it in the bay when I noticed it seemed to be struggling at full throttle and seemed to be spluttering a bit.

If I backed the throttle off a bit the revs picked up and it was fine, but it just didn't seem to want to run at full throttle.

The tide was going out and I was wondering if it was just too much for the engine to pull against it and this is why it was struggling, although it seemed to be the same whichever direction I went in. I was in a small inflatable with my wife and 2 kids and its always pushed this along quite well in the past with us all in it.

It starts and runs great apart from at full throttle.

Thanks.

Ian

Tide has nothing to do with it !!!----------If these motors sit for long periods of time with fuel in the carburetor then the small passages tend to plug up.-------------------Clean the carburetor --------------and allways run fuel out of the carburetor when done boating.
