Pulling up a skier

Hi guys,
It has been a while since I was logged in.... Finally got my OMC running right. The carb was trashed. Put a new one on and wow.... what a difference.

Now I need to get the right prop on it. I have an 89 VIP with the 5.0 V8 engine. It turns about 185 hp. I have a 3 blade stainless prop that has a 19 pitch and a 4 blade aluminum prop with an 18 pitch.

I think I need a different prop. I can pull the kids right out of the water and a tube runs fine. I can't pull my big, old butt out so I am thinking more blades or different pitch.

Give me your opinions.

Thanks.

89 5.0 was 210 or 230HP depending on carb

the correct prop is the one that gets the engine revving 4200-4600 rpm at WOT running down the lake with a properly tuned engine.

Too much of a load in the boat? 2 people a cooler and 1/2 tank of gas.
Then go for a ride. You should get (like Hystat said) 42-4600 rpm at WOT.
Do that and then post your results.Try both props and see what one gets you close.J
