Why is it when people ask for an opinion on this forum, they can get 20 negative responses on the quality of a vessel and one positive response and purchase the boat.

Here in Jersey we call that "Asking around until you get the opinion you want to hear".

Did a survey this past season for someone looking to buy an older Bayliner with a Volvo Penta. Told him to stay away after looking at it. Too much wear on the boat. He paid three other Techs to look at the boat after I did. The last one told him it was good. So he bought it. I still see the boat sitting on blocks at the marina. Drive is off and engine is out.

In my opinion, 3 negatives and 1 positive means stay away.

Ayuh,.... We see it All the time at iboats too...
It usually has to do with somebody lookin' at an ole OMC Stringer drive, or a Merc 470... Cheap of course...

There's Nothin' you can say that'll steer 'em away for pizzin' their money into a bottomless pit...
