Honda 50 not charging Need Help

My 2001 Honda 50 is not charging. I changed the battery cables which were corroded (black copper), I believe having these corroded cables burned up my rectifier or stator. I checked the voltage coming out of the stator at picked up .3 AC. I need to check resistance next, any suggestions?

If all the voltage that you read was .3v ac, then the coil is toast. In order to get 12v dc, you will need at least 14 - 18v ac give or take a few volts. The charge coil or coils (some 50's have two in parallel) are separator from the exciter coil (which provides the voltage to run the engine).

If the rectifier is suspect, you may want to change that too. At least take a resistance reading (with your battery disconnected) at the connectors where the charge coil connects. I am not sure what is supposed to be off the top of my head, but be sure it is not a direct short. Then give it a try, if you are daring.
