Oil leaking from housing

Last night I noticed oil leaking out of my Honda 20 HP outboard motor. It seemed to be coming from a few different places. I let it sit overnight in the tilt position and expected to have zero oil this morning. I checked the oil and there is plenty of oil available. What could be going on? Can I run it to reposition it for mechanic review? It is a Honda 20d electric start...electric tiltThanksNancy
 
What places were you seeing oil?

Could you have had too much oil in it? If so, it will show up in the various breathers and carb intake, etc.

Take the hood off and reach in and check to see if the oil filter is on tight. Also, if it is tight it could still be the cause of the leak if someone used pliers to tighten it up and punched a tiny hole in it.
