steering under power

I just installed a new teleflex rotary steering cable. While on the trailer my 75hp swings back and forth with no problem, when I,m under power the steering is stiff and when I make a turn I can feel the cable going bump bump bump as it travles thrue the helm. is this nowmal?

I have the same problem, I'm going to change out the helm and see if it makes a difference.
