warning buzzer sounding on yam85hp?

I was at 5000rpm yesterday when a warning buzzer in the control box started and the motor shut itself down almost.I didnt even know it had one let alone what its warning of.I sat with the engine at idle for 5 minutes and proceded back to land nice and slowly,the buzzer stopped and i had full power again.Whats it warning me of? Iv had a look in the control box and the buzzer has yellow and pink wires to it.
 
Iv been told by local marina it is an overheat warning,i changed the impellor yesterday,it was intact but worn,also the lower casing was full of sand and silt that has been sucked in in very shallow water,trying again on sunday hopefully no buzzer.thanks for your reply.
 
If you run a ground a lot then change the impeller more often. I am pretty sure it was the water pump.
