99 225ox66 outboard problem HELP

My port engine on my 26 regulator is smoking more and is burning a little more oil. We where offshore the other day and the engine died out at idle and when I started it back up it smoked real bad for 30-60 sec. then cleared up under load. When we got back to dock we fueled and when leaving the fuel dock it again smoked hard for 30-60 sec. and cleared up once we got going. Any idea what is causing this??
 
theres a link rod that controlls amount of oil delivered to motor should be adjusted to .o5 thousands with feeler gauge if you have never cleaned your o2 sensor its not a bad idea once you have done these two items verify your tps sensor is within spec and enjoy your boating season:cool:
