I am trying to remove the lower unit on my outdrive. It says, in my manual, to remove all the mounting bolts and then rotate the shifting arm 90 deg to port so that it will clear the exhaust port area. Well, i got all the bolts out and lowered the unit a little, but the shifting linkage won't rotate the full 90 deg. it just so happens that i can see the whole thing--my exhaust bellows is split. I have tried several clever tactics, but the mechanism comes in contact with the wall after ~45 deg of movement. I have also managed to get a pair of pliers on it and tried to force the rotation. No bueno!!!
