I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who is using a Racor 500 filter inline and ahead of the lift pump. In my case I have a 12 volt pump ahead of the filter to aid in filling the filter and purging air. I've found that the 12 volt pump needs to be left on or the lift pump will suck the racor dry and the engine quits. Seems like it shouldn't and in another application it didn't. This particular 12 volt pump will sense pressure and will stop pumping when it builds. There is no return line to the tank.
