GM 4.3L stalling problem

I have a 1988 4.3L engine, it will stall out after warming up and running good when we stop, shift into neutral then proceed to take off again. When we start to throttel up it sounds like it is flooding and runs rough. If I throttle up fast it will take off and run fine.
Any ideas on this problem?

I think I'd start by watching the ESA switches and cable operation - sounds like a lower shift cable could be hanging up keeping the ESA engaged

Ok this is something I am all too familiar with. I have the same engine and had the same problem. A fellow I worked with from New Zealand, Ralf Maggee put me on the right track. Your ignition wire power lead starts at the battery,(rear of the boat) to the key,(front of the boat) than back to the engine, plenty of distance for corrosion to effect the power to the coil on our near new boats. Try running a jumper wire from the positive on the battery directly to the positive on the coil. If this works you have the same problem I had. Post back and let me know how you make out.
