1992 Yamaha P50TLRQ misses at wide open throttle

from standing start to wide open it runs fine. approx 5 to 10 seconds after getting to full throttle it misses every 3 to 5 seconds. I back off a little (300 to 500 rpm) it runs fine. Thanks
 
If you don't know if your carbs are shiny clean that would be a good place to start. Otherwise you may have a coil breaking down. At least if you know the carbs are clean you won't be as likely to melt a piston but if that doesn't solve it you may have to let the problem fester until it can be diagnosed more readily.
 
Leaning out the air/fuel ratio due to restricted jet can cause the combustion process to actually slow down and expose the piston to the flame for a longer period of time, snowballing into lubrication breakdown, piston scoring, poor heat transfer, detonation, etc. All in a matter or seconds.
