Trouble shooting, where to start

I have a 95, 90hp Yamaha that has been running rough since the start of this season, It coughs and chokes but will troll, cuts out when slowing down to dock and when you open it up it will go about half speed for 1-2 minutes before reaching full rpm. It then will then sometimes miss and hesitate. Where should I start trouble shooting to get her back to runnig like she always has. I have already replaced the plugs.

Thanks I'll start there. It is also leaving a trail of Blue smoke can I make any adjustments for that or is that just what old motors do?
 
When you said it started showing up at the start of the season, I agree that it is most likely a carb problem. As to the smoke, have you using Yamalube oil, or some other brand?
 
Don't forget the diaphragm in the enrichment primer. Acts like a flooding carb when it gets holed. Also the primer coil if not working allow the motor to be over enriched, smokey, power loss.
