but runs very fast and extremely noisey the governor lever does nothing and have to stop engine by starving of fuel
have taken rocker cover off and checked throttle bar and there is very little movement 1-2 mm at very most
does it need setting up again and settings checked would appreciate any info or ideas
thanks for reading this

Sounds like the rack is sticking from sitting. You need to be experienced to re-adjust the rack.

Try running the engine a few times up to temp, it may loosen up. Just don't let it run away. Have a way to choke off the air supply.

Dockside is probably right. However, the "extremely noisy" part could be because no oil is getting up to the top of the head and rocker assemblies. This too would contribute to a sticking rack. Try pouring some oil on everything under the valve cover. It might also be a good idea to look under the governor cover and make sure that is getting oiled too and that the weights and riser are free to move. Make sure your oil level is correct-not too high, not too low- before restarting.

hi
thanks for replys will prob ask around the local boat yards to see if anybody has any experience of
this type of engine and will come out and check it over

Sitting to long may have just got things alittle sticky. When you gonna run it again leave valve cover off and manually help control the rack untill oil can get around, had to do that a few times on them. Be carfull not to overrev. The noise needs to be checked by someone with more expierence, good luck, be carfull.
