No forward on 1989 50 hp Force

First off, thanks for letting me post this,went fishing the other day and everything was going just fine until we got ready to head home,I started the motor, which is a 1989 50 hp Force, put it in gear and it just set there and the motor would only Rev up, would not go forward.I put it in reverse and it worked just fine,I,m sure the prop or nothing else hit anything,it,s like it just happened while we was there fishing,sure hope someone out there can help.
 
Thanks Jerryjerry05 for the info.checked the prop and everything was OK,I went ahead and took it to a repair shop and the guy adjusted the shift linkage and said it was fixed,gonna to take it out tomorrow and see if that's what it was,will let u know.
 
Got to take my boat out on the lake yesterday and after the guy at the repair shop adjusted the shift rod linkage and the shift linkage inside the motor cover the boat shifted just great,guess it got out of adjustment some way.
