DF 9.9 water exhaust

Hi everybody,

I have just changed impeller on my DF 9.9 2003 Zuki, and run it on the hose for the first time. I noticed that a lot of water was coming from the two holes in front part of drive shaft housing (marked by green arrows in the picture). Is it normal? I thought it is supposed to come out of the exhaust hole (red arrow in the picture). Telltale stream is very good, and there are no signs of overheating.

Did I do something wrong, or the new impeller made the increased amount of the exhaust water more noticeable?

Re: DF 9.9 water exhaust

I see this a lot when running an engine on a hose. It's normal, you should run it in a lake or a large container to see for sure that it's peeing.
I think it's fine.

Thank you for taking the time to confirm that it's normal, I really appreciate it. Will feel much more comfortable trolling for salmon this weekend!
