yamaha smartcraft fuel gauge issue 2006 150 hp

I have a 2006 Scout 220 Bay with a 150 4 stroke and the Smart digital gauges. My fuel gauge suddenly stopped working while underway. Are these fused anywhere ? Or do I need to check the sending unit ? If checking the sending unit , is it similar to a car , ground out the gauge and see if it works ? Thanks

The sending unit wire is not fused. You can check it the same way you check an auto fuel tank sender. You will want to check the ground wire on the fuel tank first. Remove the ground wire, clean it and reinstall it.

hi, check the ground wire or open the sender unit from the fuel tank and operate the sender unit by hand at the out side. if still not showing the correct measurement then change the unit.
