5hp yamaha keeps cutting out on tick over????

i have just brought my first engine a 5hp yamaha it goes fine on full power but cuts out when its on tick over any ideas?????????
 
Worth Checking your spark plug. I have a 5hp Yam as my first outboard which I got last year and had all sorts of funny symptoms where it ran but cut out and did strange things. I changed the spark plug recently and it runs a treat. For £2 do it yourself worth a try before you look at fiddling with the carb and doing a rebuild.
