2003 suzuki 90 hp 4 stroke grinds when put in gear

need help to fix a grinding problem mainly in forward.been doing this almost every season but will get better as it is used.but never is right.tried greasing fitting and adjusting cable.cleaned shift rod when i replaced water pump.

Outboards must be shifted with a quick firm motion of the shift lever !!--------------------They should not be eased into gear.

thanks for repling to my add.ive had this boat since it was new and had may other boats with outboards ther is diffently a mech problem.i was hoping you or some else can give me a in idea what i can do to fix my boat and not how to operate it..again thanks for the advise.

remove the shift cable

shift it by hand
if it grinds you might need to replace the clutch dog
