1976 mercury 50 hp engine choke problem

I have the push down choke on the throttle control box beside driver. When you press choke it should click engaging choke. It is not clicking. What part do I most likely need. Thanks!!!!! Ken

Ayuh,... Hard to say Ken,.... Welcome Aboard,...

Diagnosin' it will save ya buyin' abunch of parts ya don't need....

Start at the choke solenoid,...
With the button on the control pushed, the solenoid should be showing 12Vs...
Is it,..??
Does it have a Good Ground,..??
Next, check the Big plug on the side of the motor,...
Then see if the Switch is workin' properly...

All you'll need is a Testlight, or Multimeter to do these Tests...
