2004 Yamaha 150 hp to NMEA 2000

I have a 2004 Yamaha 150 and would like to connect to NMEA 2000 on my Lowrance HDS7.
I know I can't connect directly because I do not have the command link on the Yamaha. Will a Lowrance interface cable help in making the transition?

Do you know of anyone who has done this? I read on this forum of others attempting but not with Yamaha.
