I've just rebuilt my manual start 40hp and although very stiff, it seems to be running fine.
Its only run for less than one hour on the hose and when I put it into salt water to try and start it, it keeps stalling. Someone told me that I need to run-in the engine for a couple of hours on the hose because its not straining to pump water and then it should be OK.
Appreciate any comments. Even running the motor for one hour has made a huge difference in pull starting it.
