Black Smut on transom

I bought this boat last April, Pursuit with 1996 Twin KAMD42 's and have have smut build up on the transom that I'm curious if it's normal or something that could be corrected ?
Engine have 900 hrs and I've replace air filters , oil and filter change . I have to clean the smut off after about 15 hr's of run time.
Is this normal for these engine or should I look at injector problems ???
 
I guess this was a stutid question, no one has replied.
just thought it is a little unusal since I don't see this on other diesel boats at the docks here in Orange Beach area.
My engines seem to smoke more than I'm use to . ????
 
One of those things with diesels you just live with I guess, I've changed to a different type air filter and it seems to smoke less . It had NAPA Gold in it first,
