I am not sure what i have ,I picked up a 14' john boat and two motors and trolling motor., for $100.00 the motor i am working on is a johnson 6hp I think. the model # CD-22E ., I looked on the model year guide and did not see it so if any one can help me and tell me what i have ,, and if you could break the letters and numbers for me -( like what is CD and 22 and E ) much thanks for your help

so i do have a 1965 6hp kool thanks and do you know what the E stands for ., Oh i also have a Wizzard have you heard of them before the model # WG4

Is your 6hp an electric start? If it is, that is what the E is for, if you have a rope start, I will have to check out the many lists for the Johnson as there are several Es.

Here is a gallery of Wizard shots:

They are on the site:

http://www.p-wre.com/phpBB3/index.php and it is a good site for old engines and guys who restore them.

Here is another:

I so do appreciate your info ,, the 6hp johnson is a pull start , but that don't mean someone has changed parts it is a 1965 ( but who would want a pull start over electric. ) LOL

No such thing as a 6 hp electric from the factory in the 60's--------------------The E would before a " Production run " during the year.-------------Maybe a different bracket / paint / bolt / feature during the model year.-------------------Wizards were sold for many years in the early 50's made by MERCURY / KIEKHAEFER-----------and later by others, sold by various stores.
