1998 225 hp EFI intermittent alarm at key on

I have a '98 Merc Offshore 225 EFI that recently started sounding an intermittent alarm as soon as I turn the key on (engine not running). My best guess is that the float switch in the oil reservoir may be stuck or malfunctioning, or possibly the alarm module. From what I understand, anything else that would cause an alarm would require the motor to be running. Is there anything I could be overlooking?

Always include the serial# when asking questions.Fill out the profile you might be close to someone who can help.
The motor not running with an intermittent alarm is the oil system.
It could be one of two sensors. You MIGHT have 2 low oil sensors. One on the motor oil tank and one on the boat reservoir.
Test them if you can.Jerry

As soon as you turn on the key the low oil alarm system is turned on.The easy way to check the float switch in the reservoir on the motor is to turn on the key, unscrew the cap and slide the float up and down to see if the alarm shuts off.I just replaced mine for the same problem, quick easy fix
