guys I'm posting this for a friend who is going to buy steering cables for his boat he needs them to be 19 ft long, but he is wondering what he needs, he is changing the whole system from helm all the way back to the tail of his i/o chrysler, now the question is the following...is the cable and all parts model specific or steering systems are universal???
 
Many cables will interchange with the steering heads (drums); they just need to be the 'correct' style. I think Teleflex has bought most of the competition. the other end, the link to the 'tillers' has much more variations though many will interchange. Best bet is to check with your preferred source to get a list of key measurements that way you'll know it fits when it arrives. (I switched to hydraulic steering decades ago so the cable info I have is dated.)
