DT40 broken plug wire

Engine recently started dropping off RPM (my guess about 200) at cruising speeds and above. Will run then drop shortly, catch then repeat continously, cutting in and out. Cleaned carb and checked other areas noticed the plug cap was seperated from plug wire. Looking at parts catalog you can not order the plug wire only CDI unit $499 Would this bad connection cause this RPM drop anyways? Seems logical...

After cleaning carb and plugs it did start/idle better but still has drop when running on plane... Can not even solve problem until of course I find year of motor, FML yikes!

See you local Johnson / Evinrude / BRP dealer.-----------------Get a new sparkplug boot and the spring " thingy " and repair the end of the plug wire. Part #581027---about $4.00.
