Fast Idle Lever

The fast idle lever on my control box doesn't increase the speed on my engine, it actually does nothing. Is there an easy fix to look for here without taking the control box apart?

Simple diagnosis. Look and see if it moves the throttle linkage under the outboard cover. It is actually a simple cable adjustment. Have someone move the lever and you stand and look at the linkage at the same time. Yes, frustrating at first but it get's easier. BTW the adjustments are on the motor end and IF the cable does not move at all then you will have to open the control box.

Thanks for the help, I checked it out and turns out I just wasn't lifting the lever high enough. It takes a bit of pressure on the lever, I was afraid of breaking something.
