What is this for

I took it apart and it's a mechanical cable, not electrical. Ran the cable all the way back and found what it does. It opens and closes a valve to drain the live wells, I couldn't see the end before because it was covered by the battery boxes in the back. I've own several bass boats over the years and never seen this before. It's an Astro S 18 SF.
