Suzuki DF 90 and DF 9.9 both overheating

Yesterday, while boating on Port Townsend Bay, WA, our Suzuki 90 EFI overheated and had to be shut down. I then started the Suzuki 9.9 EFI kicker which, after running for a few minutes, also overheated and shut down. We had to call Vessel Assist and $318.50 later were towed to our slip in Port Hadlock Marina.

What went wrong? Could it be the fuel? What happens now?
