Merc 6hp 4-stroke - 8hp?

Hi all,

I have recently bought a new 6-hp 4-stroke for a tender and found that it needs just a bit more power however we are limited to 6hp due to licensing requirements. I have been told that it is possible to turn the 6hp into 8hp...is this possible and if so, what is required?

The 6hp and 8hp are completley different engines I beleive. I know the 4,5 and 6hp just have different carbs. These are all 1 cyl engines and the 8hp is a 2cyl...
