I have a 1984 200 hp Mercury and I am having problems with the trim and tilt unit. It started working intermittently, the button on the shift controls would stop working, then I would try another switch and it would work. I changed out both solenoids, that didn't help at all. Then I checked the oil level, and it was low. Filled the reseviour, and it started working fine, while it was in the garage. Took the boat out again, and it worked for the first couple of times, then stopped working completely. Got the boat home, and it is working again. It appears to have a leak somewhere, because when I park the boat, I have oil running out of the motor mounting bracket, then down the transom. This unit is mounted on the inside of the boat on the transom, which is very hard to work on, and I can not see any leaks. At first I thought the problem was electrical, then hydraulic, now I don't have a clue. Any suggestions?? Thanks for your help!
