Is there a preferred sealant to use, or should I just put it on without any sealer at all? I had trouble finding any reference to what to use in the Mercruiser Stern Drive Shop manuals. "
 
Do not use any sealant on tha

Do not use any sealant on that gasket. Also do not over tighten. The torque specs are quite low. Something like 30 lbs but i am not quite sure. If you use any sealant the gasket will squirt out if not today it will do it tomorrow.
