we have a 22 foot pontoon boat with 60 hp merc...1997 outboard....we are unable to get the motor to trim down...it trims up but no sound when you try to trim down. we have a dock, so trailering it isnt necessary....we can leave it trimmed down for short term and be able to use the boat until we can have an electrician look at the wiring...any ideas of what might be our problem? and help in lowering the engine so we can use it tomorrow would be great...thank you

There should be two siloniods on the motor one is for up and the other is for down .the one for the down is problably bad.might be able to jump the siloniod to make it work and if that works the siloniod is bad.

I have the same motor and had the same problem. It was the relay going from the switch to the pump. There are two relays. You can swap them out to figure out which one is bad
