Engine start fine, idles fine, wake speed no problem, but when I trottle up for power nothing, rpm shoots up 30,000, no speed.

Work done
Re-hubbed prop
Fuel lines replaced, added fuel/water filter
Replaced spark plugs, wires replaced last summer
Checked and cleaned all electrical connections

30,000 is 25,000 too many rpms. Is the engine mounted corectly on the boat, is it cavitating. Sounds like the prop still, or the engine is to short for the transom

30,000 RPM? or 3,000? I'm thinking an outboard would melt down if it revved anywhere close to 30k RPMs. If it is 30k, are you saying you have a tach that reads that high?
