2006 150hp 2 stroke 6 cyl- clunking

First time I've heard it was this afternoon. It is a clunking that appears to be coming from the motor. It can be loud and you can literally feel it under your feet to a quiet clunking that is hard to hear but there. It does it when driving forward, I have not tried reverse. It does it at slow and fast speed and the loud or quiet does not disciminate meaning it is loud and low at high and slow speeds. I can't make it do it when I turn or not turn, does it either way. Seems to be about every 30-60 seconds. at very slow idol type speeds it does not do it. I took the cover off to see if something was banging loose cause that's what it sounds like but no. When getting closer to the motor I would swear it's coming from the lower end but I can't tell. I have never done anything to the lower end like oil etc... I just got it last year. Any thoughts are much appreciated...

sounds the shift linkage might need to be adjusted.
