1995 40hp Mariner fuel problem

ok so heres what I have done so far Ive taken the carbs off cleaned, then replaced the inline filter, installed new primer ball.taken apart the fuel pump and checked the dioframs (good) and still not getting fuel to the cylinders. if i spray mixed fuel down the carbs it will run till that fuel is gone and then shut down. when I pump the ball it will build pressuer but when i stop the fuel thats in the filter drains back into the tank. is that right ? and if not what would cause this. any help would be good I would like to get it on the water this weekend thanks.

Is the arrow on the primer bulb pointing towards the motor?

Try taking off the output hose from the fuel pump and crank it over, make sure you have a good pulse of fuel spraying out !

Also check all your fuel lines, make sure none are split or leaking at the joins.

Ok Ill try that and see what happens if I dont would that mean I have a bad fuel pump

well she started and ran good I shot some mixed gass down the carbs and she staied running and when I shut her down she startted right up every time. thanks for all the help.
