what spark plugs 1995 40hp

I have a 1995 40hp mariner what are the proper plugh to use and what is right way to start this thing I think I keep flooding it

Assuming you have the year correct, which would make this one of the twin cylinder 40's, correct? The plugs are NGK BP8H-N-10's gapped at .040" - don't cross ref to champions. If you can't get NGK's look for Autolites.

As to your starting proceedure - is this electric start or rope?

Why don't you post up what you are doing. It may not be the starting proceedure, you may have a partially clogged carb...
