mercury 1978 70 hp 3 cyl can't find serial #

I can't find the serial number on my 70 hp, says on the carb air inlet it's a 1978 butt there is no plate/sticker on the swivel post.

EDIT ok I searched and found out about the welsch plug, can't find it butt it is dark out and hard to see, i'll look again tomorrow

does this thing have 2 carbs? how's that work?

Yes, and crappy! It takes time, patience and a temp gun aimed at the plugs to get them to idle, more or less.

The serial number is on the tower.

ok, I can't find any welsch plug, I took all the electrical stuff off and nothing

any help please on the serial # location?
