fuel won't get up1980 25hp

My 1980 25 hp won't get up unless you take the cowl off and choke it by hand what's the problem. New fuel lines rebuilt fuel pump cleaned carb what's up

i had same problem with my 5 hp johnson. did the same repairs but after all it just need new carb kit.

You suggest it starts Ok if you operate the choke manually.

Does this mean it is an electric start model with an electrically operated choke.

If so why is it not operating electrically.

Is the solenoid getting a power supply? Is the solenoid coil burnt out? Is the linkage not closing the choke properly?

nee dto rebuild the carbs.If you have to choke it for it to run properly then carbs are clogged.

Or, engine is not properly synchronized.
Check that carb only starts opening when roller hits the mark at the cam, and that the carb does not open more than 99,9% at full throttle.

What does "won't get up" mean? Also, does new fuel lines also mean new quick-connect fittings, or were the old ones re-used?
