I have issue with manual tilt lock lever. I cannot tilt the motor up. Locking mechanism is not releasing. Any suggestions appreciated.
 
does the motor have trim and tilt.Does it work.Is the manual tilt lock corroded.what year is the motor
 
no tilt/trim, it is manual. motor is 1991 but no manual to trouble-shoot, thought I might be able to maybe pry it where it might be binding
 
there should be a grease fitting on front of your motor were it pivots,on were the steering cable runs threw .Grease that first then try working it little bit at a time,try pulling it up from the lower unit {scag},that should give you some more leverage.
 
seems there are two locking mechanisms, one on back-side which is spring loaded and one on front to lock the motor which is used to lock motor so it does not lift up when throttling in reverse. This is the mechanism that is broke. Will work on it over the Winter since we want to enjoy our short season in the northeast.
