Mariner rewind spring replacement 1982 25 hp

I have an 82 Mariner 25 serial #695-311253 and have to replace the pull cord rewind spring on it! Anyone have any info on doing this? I have done it on a 65 Merc39 but know this one is gonna be diffrent!

It's a pain! The end of the spring is held by little more than good luck. I had to drill a hole in the top housing and drive a pin to hold the spring in place.
