I have 2 boats, both have Yamaha 703 controls. One boat has a 1996 Yamaha 50hp 4 stroke, the other has a 2006 Yamaha 2 stroke 25hp. I am wanting to swap the motors between boats but the control cables are not the same length so I can't move the controls with the motors unless I swap out the control cables. Both motors are electric start, the 50 has PTT, the 25 does not.
My question is.....is the electrical cable coming from the controllers to the motors the same for both motors? If they are the same then I can just switch the controls between the motors without having to swap out the control cables.
