1994 6 hp mercury,impeller replacement

trying to replace impeller on a 1994 6 hp mercury,leg drops down 50mm but will not go any further,can some please advise how to remove leg.???????????????:mad::mad:
 
Did you disconnect the shift shaft?

I will post 2 pic's below - the first shows you where it is, the second what you see when you get a good look.

You need to completely remove the "clip" - grab it with a pair of needle nosed pliers and more it (upwards) unclipping it from the cam - it pivots at the shift shaft end. Once unclipped, pull it straight back towards you, completely removing it.

That will let the shift shaft come free from the cam.

The explanation may sound a little "foggy" buy once you get it apart you will understand what it's doing..

If this is an electric start model you have to remove the starter to get at the clip. If not, simply look (under) the motor (between the powerhead and lower cowl), on the right hand side (if looking at the carb), just slightly below and behind the carb end of the block.
