for the trim cylinder of an 85 115hp. Saw one on ebay, adjustable, but not sure if it will be sturdy enough. Autozone didnt know what i was talking about.

The adjustable one will work fine.

Merc's own (part number 94-74951) is adjustable, but tough to spend 50 bucks on something you may only use once.

Those two little holes that the (pegs) from the wrench fit into are 1/4" and they are about 5/16" deep.

Personally, I would just jury-rig something up from a couple of 1/4" grade 5 bolts.

Once you get that cap started (initially "cracked" with the wrench) it twists out easy enough.

A good piece of hardwood with a couple of bolts would be strong enough I'm sure..

The one on ebay is $5, which is part of my apprehension, you know, you get what you pay for. I like your thought of usisng a piece of wood and some bolts, have some scrap that would do the job nicely, Thanks.
