I have a Johnson that needed a new timer base and I replaced it, ran well for about 15 hours and now I have a miss on # 2 cly. I replaced the plugs and no luck so then I took off one wire at a time and it seems as if #2 cly is the one. It is still getting spark but it seems as if it is not at the right time. Another timer base gone bad? Carb OK. I do not have a stevens meter but tried with an amp probe dvm with peak hold and when cranking with leads on white And (blue ,purple, then green) I get .5 - nothing and 5vdc. Also With the motor off I checked continuity between white/green, white/blue and white/purple and there is none, book says there should be something. Do I need the stevens meter even for this ohms check also?
