Yamaha outboard won't start

My engine was running great at about 15 knots when it cut out. It seemed it could have been a fuel line issue but was not. It then would not crank. It tried to crank with the fly wheel moving a little and seemingly being locked up. Battery was not the issue nor was it in gear or the safety switch out. It is a 200 hp 1989 outboard that was previously running fine and never failed to crank this summer. Any help?

is the motor locked up or what?

if you can crank it over, do a spark check and compression check.
let us know

One thing is that the flywheel does move about an inch or twowheni crank it. It's as if it is hitting something. How big a prob do you think it is?

it could be a very big problem, need to pull the heads and see whats up. first pull the flywheel and make sure the magnets are not blocking the flywheel.
