Installing a tach 1976 40hp evinrude?

I would like to install a tachometer on my 76 40hp evinrude so I can find out more about how the engine is performing at diff RPMs.
Does anyone have any information on how to install and what kind of tach to install. Any info will be greatly appreciated. I know a little bit about 2 stoke motors but I have NO idea how to install a tach.

your tach must be compatable with an OMC motor, you can buy one from the omc/brp dealer or you can buy one of the after market stores. It will tell you on the package how to install it. not hard, if you have problems after you get the tach, let us know.
